With BLC's visit planner organising your own trip could not be easier. Simply click on the 'our project' link and fill out the form. BLC will email you back a precise quote - which you can then accept, amend or reject. Of course with all our years experience of helping groups in London we have a few ideas which you may like to consider. Why not take a look at our preplanned stays. They may be exactly what you are looking for or they may just give you a few ideas to include in your own programme.
Simply click the above 'Booking' button and complete the booking form. Your course is now reserved. Then print the form and return it to us, within three, days, together with a cheque for 150€ deposit and 3 passport size photograph. Alternatively, you can request a brochure by phone or e mail and return the enclosed booking form to us by post.
Within about two weeks you will receive a confirmation of your booking and an acknowledgement of receipt of your deposit cheque. The balance can then be sent by cheque to BLC or settled by any other convenient method, up to one month prior to departure. In cases of late booking, please enclose the entire course fee.
It is often possible to return to the same host family. If you would like to do this please inform us as soon as possible since such requests are increasingly popular.
It is also possible for us to arrange for you to be met at Heathrow Airport London and driven to your host family. The charge for this service which includes being taken back to the airport when you return is 80 €.
A public liability insurance is included in the price. Otherwise you should take out a policy to cover : repatriation; medical costs; loss of baggage and cancellation.
Please ensure that you have a current valid passport and visa if necessary.We are always pleased to help you with any documents that you will need to receive from BLC London in order to complete the visa formalities (confirmation that you will be attending a study centre in London and staying with an English family).
The BLC programme is fully adaptable to your personal needs. We offer an 'a la carte' system which allows you to make your programme as intensive as necessary. You can, for example choose the afternoon class programme, which will give you 5 hours of lessons a day. Moreover as an English organisation we create every possible opportunity for you to practice your newly-acquired language skills : you can participate in theatre workshops, chat with teachers & monitors, invite your host family's children to our parties and excursions, conduct opinion research surveys for your conversation class, write an article for the course journal...
We usually estimate that in a 3 week course your class average will increase by between18 and 25%. Obviously your willingness to participate is also important, which is why we do everything to make you feel relaxed and confident.
When you arrive we make a comprehensive assessment of your language skills. After the first day's classes, our teachers meet to decide whether any adjustments are necessary.
The BLC host family supervisor personally visits all candidate families. The first inspection usually takes about an hour and a comprehensive assessment of the family is made. About 1 in 5 of the families visited, are retained to receive students. At the end of the stay we ask students to mark their family on every aspect of the stay. Only the families which receive the very highest marks are retained for future students. We have undertaken these quality checks for 20 years.
Yes. Naturally we do everything so that you are satisfied with your family & don't have to change. In practice, this is very rare as our objective, is to get it right first time.
The maximum distance is about 2Km. For most students it will be much less. The ease of access is always a consideration when we select a host family but other factors such as the family's ability to regard their student as a member of the family and the quality of the accommodation, have a higher priority.
The affectation of students to centres is decided by BLC in England, according to age. All of our centres, however, have the same qualities and are very close to each other.
There is no regional accent which makes studying the language easier.
The area has one of the highest socio-economic levels in England, which means that our families don't take students for the money & that it is a secure and attractive environment.
The geographical situation is perfect for visits & excursions. We are on the Metropolitan line of the Underground and access to central London is quick & easy. For excursions, we are within easy access of Oxford, Cambridge, Windsor, Brighton, Bath, Stratford, Winchester...
Apart from swimming trunks, BLC provides all equipment free of charge. If, however, you wish to bring, for example, a favoured tennis racket, you are of course free to do so.
